Manufacturing
7EBB manufactures tie rod (sag rod) assemblies in a wide range of ASTM specifications. Two common configurations are typically used. The first configuration consists of a single rod with left-hand and right-hand threads on opposing ends, with a clevis threaded onto each end. When the rod is rotated, the assembly is drawn tight. The second configuration consists of two rods with clevises on both ends and a turnbuckle positioned in the center. Rotating the turnbuckle tightens the entire assembly. In some applications, tie rod assemblies are connected using sleeve nuts or coupling nuts.
Tie rods are most often manufactured from low-carbon steel, though higher-strength assemblies can also be produced upon request. Carbon and alloy steel tie rod assemblies are generally supplied with a plain or hot-dip galvanized finish, and stainless steel tie rod assemblies are also commonly available.
