Hillside washers are used primarily to distribute load evenly in cross-bracing applications. They are commonly installed with diagonal tie rods or cable assemblies fitted with welded eye bolts to support wall columns and steel beams in metal building construction.
The curved outer surface of a hillside washer allows the nut to be tightened at various angles, which helps reduce installation time and enables easy field adjustments. Other components frequently used alongside hillside washer systems in steel structures include turnbuckles and clevises.
